Hermes Press -- The Phantom
This is one of the things I dreamed about when I was twelve. Hermes Press releases The Phantom: The Complete Newspaper Dailies Volume 1: 1936-1938, a reprint of the Phantom dailies from the beginning in 1936. Their website however is retarded frame based, so I can’t link directly to the book, so here it is instead at Amazon.
Hermes plans on reprinting all the dailies up to and including Sy Barrys run on the strip, ending in 1994.
Nowadays, I don’t find this tempting at all – Not when there are a lot of other fine reprints being published like Popeye, Gasoline Alley, Peanuts, DC Archives etc etc. But I’m sure there are still a lot of twelve year olds out there for whom this counts as excellent news.
